The event had students getting one of the three soups provided by co-sponsor Aramark. They had the choice of getting either chicken noodle, vegetable, or meatball soup.
After receiving their free meal, students sit down and talk with other like-minded students about their own favorite superheroes.
“I really like both DC Comics heroes the Green Lantern and Green Arrow,” said 20-year old nutrition major Bangkhanh Nguyen.
Other students also talk about more uncommon heroes they appreciate.
“Marvel’s Deadpool is definitely my favorite even if he is more of an anti-hero,” 18-year-old creative writing major Alexander Stallings said. “Deadpool is a guy that really gets the job done and is very hilarious too.”
“The baby Jack-Jack from The Incredibles was so awesome because he was so funny at the end changing his shape,” said 19-year-old early childhood development major Katherine Henry.
The Souper-Day event also allowed students write their favorites on the white board.
The board included the more common favorites like Superman, Wonder Woman, and Spider-Man. There were some more unexpected ones written including the Powerpuff Girls, Power Rangers, Kamen Rider and even Goku from Dragon Ball.
By the time the event came to an end, the white board was almost entirely covered with every superhero name seemingly imaginable. It shows that students have extreme admiration for any superhero, new or old.
