Suspect injures student in physical altercation
An unidentified suspect injured a male student on the light rail platform on Tuesday at 3:03 p.m.
The student, who was approached by the male suspect, got into an argument with the suspect before he was punched in the face and fell to the ground bleeding, according to a Cosumnes River College crime bulletin.
“If possible, try not to engage people,” said Police Captain Jay Lampano.
The bulletin stated that Los Rios Police was called onto the scene and stayed with the student until the Emergency Medical Services arrived.
Lampano said the student was seen by the ambulance team and later released.
The suspect fled the scene after the incident occurred but was later detained by a Sacramento Police officer and was eventually arrested with the help of Los Rios Police, according to the bulletin.
Lampano said students should follow the safety tips listed in the crime bulletin and should also be mindful of where the cameras are on campus so that incidents are recorded.
“Look for where the cameras are,” Lampano said.
