Students will get to cast their votes for campus and district-wide student elections on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Polls are open for the fall student election on eServices on Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
The Associated Students of Cosumnes River College is the official organization that represents students and consists of the Clubs and Events Board and Student Senate.
Student elections for CRC are held annually to elect a new student governing body for the upcoming year.
Emaan Qamar is running for Student Senate president. Lauren Barnes and Annie Ng are both seeking the position of Student Senate secretary, while Keria Moeckly is running for Treasurer.
Dennise Valdez who is incumbent director of legislative affairs is running for the position again, unopposed. The candidates running for Student Senate senator include Shahabuddin Ahmed, Raymond Lu and Hadia Sediqi.
For the CAEB positions, Dunia Ahadi and Angelina Miller are running for commissioner. Meanwhile, Meliza Perkins and Hansen Wang are both candidates for CAEB events coordinator.
Any student running unopposed gets elected for the position they’re running in.
One student trustee is elected, from among the four colleges in the district, and serves as part of the Board of Trustees for the Los Rios Community College District. The elected student trustee ensures that student needs are served by the district’s board of trustees, according to the Student Voter Guide.
The candidates for the district-wide position of student trustee are Ethan Bui and Brianna Pham from CRC, Lizzie Lariosa and Sapeidah Saeedi from American River College.
Student leaders from the CAEB and Senate are committed to advocating for student rights, improving the campus culture and developing transferable leadership skills, according to the Student Voter Guide.
