The women’s soccer team defeated San Antonio College on Friday in a close game.
The team has yet to lose a game this season, winning three games and tying one.
“This was a huge win, this is one of the best teams in the state, they beat us last year and we came back this year,” said head coach Cesar Plasencia.
The game was 0-0 until left wing Rosalee Beckham made a goal with 30 minutes left in the second half.
“I was so excited that was actually my first goal of the season, I didn’t even know how to react,” Beckham said.
Beckham said her whole team earned that goal and that they all had fought for it.
Both teams were given a yellow card in the second half andPlasencia said it was “really, really intense.”
Plasencia said the defensive lineup and keeper stood out this game, along with Dayanara De La Cruz as the middle forward.
“Our team goal is to have a long playoff run and get to the final four,” said center back Katherine Smith.
Plasencia said his goal for the team was to over achieve.
“However that may look for us, right now we’re off to a decent start, we have a good group of players,” said Plasencia.
The team played another match Sunday against Cerritos College, winning 5-0.
The Hawks go up against the Hartnell Panthers at home on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
