As part of Earth Week at Cosumnes River College, a trio of movies will be presented and jointly sponsored by the Students for a Sustainable Future Club, the Campus Sustainability Committee and the Geography and Environmental Studies Program, according to a Green Screen flyer.

The first film, “Crude Impact,” is presented by Professor Debra Sharkey, a geography professor as well as the adviser for the Students for a Sustainable Future Club, at 1:30 p.m. in room 106 in the Science building on April 21.

According to the flyer, “Crude Impact” is a documentary that “unravels the complex entanglement of our fierce devotion to oil with the fate of indigenous cultures, human rights, our global economy and the planet itself.”

The Students for a Sustainable Future Club will host the second and third film in the series, “Fracking: The New Energy Rush” and “Ingredients.”

“Fracking: The New Energy Rush” is a British Broadcasting Channel documentary that investigates a new and controversial energy rush for the natural gas found deep underground in the U.S., sometimes right under where people live, according to the flyer. It will air at 3:30 p.m in Sci 106 on April 22.

The last film, “Ingredients,” takes viewers across America to see the kitchens of celebrated chefs revealing the people behind the movement to bring good food back to the table and health back to communities, according to the flyer. “Ingredients” is being shown in Sci 106 as well at 4:30 p.m. on April 23.
